This little dictionary is designed with the special needs of children learning to read in mind. Instead of adopting conventional methods, it focuses on character recognition. In addition to providing numerous illustrations, it emphasizes contextual explanations for each character. The sentences provided in the context effectively clarify the primary meaning of the character. This approach allows children not only to understand the meaning of characters through context but also to learn them while speaking. The little dictionary selects common or relatively common Chinese characters, totaling over 2,500. Terms that denote the names of things are accompanied by concise illustrations to facilitate easier comprehension, with over 300 illustrations in total. The book is set in five-point font, making it easier for readers to identify strokes and character forms. The entire book is arranged in the order of Pinyin, with a Pinyin index at the beginning and a stroke index at the end. Within the stroke index, characters with the same number of strokes are further arranged in the order of "horizontal, vertical, left-falling, dot, and hook" to facilitate quick reference and review.
