Features: This fourth edition of the textbook, edited by Professor Huang Xuanzhao, has been well-received and praised by and otolaryngology professionals since its release in 1994. Upholding the spirit of inheritance and innovation, this edition has been revised while maintaining the overall framework as follows:
① Added symptomatology.
② Expanded some content on imaging examinations.
③ Made significant adjustments to the otology chapters, consolidating the content of Chapters 5 to 13 into two chapters: External Ear Diseases and Middle Ear Diseases, for easier classroom teaching and self-study. Additionally, the otology section now includes two new sections: Applied Anatomy of the Petrous Bone and Hearing Aid Selection.
④ In the pharyngology section, the chapter on pharyngeal tumors focuses on nasopharyngeal angiofibroma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
⑤ Grouped commonly used otolaryngology medications into the ninth section, which also introduces the application of lasers and other new technologies in otolaryngology.
⑥ To adapt to the development of the discipline, considering that some otolaryngology departments in domestic hospitals have been or will be renamed to Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, this edition has added a sixth section on Neck Surgery. When writing this section, the editors adhered to the principle of overall optimization of the textbook, avoiding repetition with relevant content in the Surgery textbook.
⑦ Removed some uncommon clinical topics (e.g., congenital laryngeal drooping, laryngeal saccular prolapse, etc.).
⑧ Added references at the end of each section to help readers broaden their knowledge.
⑨ An index is provided at the end of the book for easy reference.
