SL/T 235-1999 Technical Specification for Testing Geosynthetic Materials

Author: Ministry of Water Resources of the People's Republic of China
Publisher: China Water Conservancy and Hydropower Press
Publication Date: 1999-05-01
Features: The purpose of compiling this code is to gradually standardize and unify the test methods for geosynthetics and align them with international standards. In 1988, the original Technical Cooperation Network for Geosynthetics organized the compilation of the "Reference Standard for Testing Methods of Geosynthetics." In 1990, the original Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power commissioned the Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute to lead the compilation of the "Testing Handbook for Geosynthetics." These efforts played a positive role in promoting the increasing unification of test methods. In recent years, due to significant developments in the varieties and applications of geosynthetics, the existing test methods have been further supplemented and revised. After consultation between the Geosynthetics Engineering Association and the Ministry of Water Resources, it was agreed to jointly compile this code. This code includes a total of 19 test items, primarily referencing American standards (ASTM), international standards (ISO), and national standards (GB) based on them, as well as German standards (DIN), the "Geosynthetics Engineering Handbook" by the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and others. The principles for referencing and formulating these methods are based on China's national conditions and the well-established practices proven through years of geotechnical testing.
