Features: Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1969) revolutionized American architecture with his unique use of space, light, and materials. As one of the early modernists of the 20th century, Wright created buildings that continue to awe both an ever-growing group of architects and non-architects. This guidebook, the first published by the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, includes all currently open Wright buildings. Although most of Wright's works are located in the Midwest of the United States, his admirers will be delighted to find that his buildings span from New Hampshire to Florida, from Texas to Oregon. In addition to maps and suggested visitation plans for 66 locations, the book provides detailed descriptions and visitation information for each site. It also includes a brief list of Wright buildings located in Asia and the UK. In this third edition of Wright Buildings and Guide, five recently opened buildings have been added. The book was written by Mr. Aline Sandersen, an advisor to the conservancy, who holds master's degrees in art history and journalism and was specifically introduced to Professor Jack Quinan of the State University of New York at Buffalo. This book will guide visitors through the most important works of Wright's modern architecture. It includes all currently open Wright buildings, with maps and travel guides for 66 locations, as well as detailed descriptions of each site.
