Features: When people walk on the street, unless they deliberately look up, their usual viewpoint makes it difficult to see the full picture of tall buildings. What is often seen is only the base of the buildings. Within this range, the prominence and influence of the building entrance are the key factors that shape people's impression of the building. Therefore, the design of the entrance form is both a focus and a challenge in architectural creation. This book starts with the basic models of architectural entrance forms, analyzing them from aspects such as attributes, types, composition, aesthetic design, and influencing factors, breaking down the entrance forms into various detailed elements and examining them in a step-by-step manner. Subsequently, it proposes creative methods such as the networked connection of traffic, the systematic application of space, and the constrained formation of forms, providing a practical and detailed exploration of design techniques and skills for entrance forms. Accompanied by numerous illustrations, it transforms monotonous textual theories into intuitive visual explanations, facilitating clearer and more effective communication with readers.
This book emphasizes the combination of theory and practice, allowing readers to gain inspiration from the design ideas and language presented in the case studies. More importantly, it encourages readers to conduct more detailed research and creatively interpret architectural entrance forms, thereby enhancing their design expertise and proficiency. During my master's thesis, I conducted specialized research on architectural entrance forms under the guidance of Professor Liu Zhihe. With the accumulation of work experience, I increasingly felt that this research should be further deepened. Recently, with the inspiration and support of Mr. Zhao Hongzhi, I refined and enriched the manuscript, which is now finally published for readers to see.
During the writing process, I strived for clear concepts, coherent theory, practical methods, and a rich combination of text and visuals, ensuring that the book is both advanced and actionable, enabling readers to learn fundamental design methods and improve their analytical and problem-solving skills. The contributing authors of this book include: Xia Baishu, Li Minghao, Shan Weiying, and Shao Long. Additionally, many colleagues and friends provided relevant photographs, for which I extend my sincere gratitude.
