Features: This book selects key vocabulary from each lesson for repeated practice, further enhancing the coverage and recall rate of the syllabus vocabulary. Review or self-assessment questions are provided after every two or three units to help students review and consolidate what they have learned, with reference answers included at the end of the book. This book is the third volume of the Intensive Reading Course for College English and is designed for students taking the College English Level 3 examination. The third volume consists of ten units.
Each unit is composed of six parts: text, new words, notes, exercises, reading practice, and guided writing. The texts are all original materials, slightly adapted for clarity. The selections aim for diversity in () and (), offering rich, interesting, and thought-provoking content. When teaching the texts, focus on the overall context while analyzing the usage of common words and phrases. Avoid overemphasizing language points at the expense of the text’s meaning, or vice versa.
The definitions of new words are presented in a combination of English and Chinese. In general, English definitions are preferred, supplemented by Chinese notes where necessary. When English alone is insufficient to convey the meaning, direct Chinese translations are used.
