Features: The development of carbon-based materials is advancing rapidly, involving increasingly broader fields and a growing number of scientists and engineers. The emergence of numerous terms related to carbon has even led to some confusion. While bringing new vitality, it has also raised a serious issue: the need to standardize the definitions of scientific terms related to carbon-based materials worldwide to reduce confusion and enhance communication. Carbon Terminology Dictionary is a specialized dictionary on carbon published at the end of 2000 by the Japan Carbon Materials Society to commemorate its 50th anniversary. This dictionary was collaboratively compiled by 91 renowned Japanese experts in carbon-based materials and is the first dictionary published in this field. It includes fundamental terms, industrial terms, and common expressions related to carbon-based materials, along with historical terms, totaling approximately 200 entries. It also appends corresponding English terms for reference and learning. In the dictionary, 210 entries related to politics, military, and government are illustrated with diagrams, tables, and photographs for detailed explanations. Therefore, it can not only be used as a dictionary but also as a reference book for carbon-based materials. This dictionary includes fundamental terms, industrial terms, and common expressions related to carbon-based materials, along with historically used terms, totaling approximately 2200 entries. It also appends corresponding English and Japanese terms.
