Features: Shaoshan is under the jurisdiction of Xiangtan City, 40 kilometers away from Xiangtan and 100 kilometers from Changsha. The area of Shaoshan Scenic Area is about 70 square kilometers. Legend has it that Emperor Shun once played the "Sha Music" here, hence the name. It is a place with beautiful mountains and clear waters, and until modern times, it remained an isolated paradise. The great leader Mao Zedong was born here and spent his youth. Shaoshan is one of the 72 peaks of Mount Nan Yue, surrounded by mountains, with towering peaks, lush pines and cedars, and spectacular scenery. It is said that the ridges in the mountains hide a "dragon vein" (the ridges indeed resemble the backbone of a dragon), and as a child, Mao Zedong often herded cattle in the mountains. In 1994, Shaoshan was designated as a national key scenic area. It was also designated as a national youth revolutionary tradition education base. Shaoshan preserves many traces of Mao Zedong's youth, including his studies, daily life, and revolutionary activities. Today, Shaoshan Chong has attractions such as Mao Zedong's former residence, the graves of his parents, the Mao family ancestral hall, the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, and Nanzhan (where Mao Zedong studied as a child), among others, for visitors to admire. Additionally, the Dishui Dong scenic area is a must-visit. Furthermore, within the Shaoshan Scenic Area, there are scenic spots such as Shaofeng with lush greenery, Fairy Maiden's Hermitage, Stone House with a cool breeze, Meteorite Gate, Rouge Ancient Well, and the Milky Way Aqueduct, as well as many precious ancient trees and famous trees.
