Features: The College Japanese Level 4 Examination is currently the most authoritative exam for public university Japanese students in China; it is an objective and fair assessment of Japanese proficiency; it is a nationwide exam that issues certificates decreed by the Ministry of Education. Since its implementation in 1993, it has gone through 11 years of development. The number of examinees has gradually increased from over 5,000 annually at the beginning to more than 15,000 in 2003. With the growing number of examinees, the pass rate has also improved year by year, playing a positive role in promoting the development of Japanese teaching for non-Japanese majors in universities and raising teaching standards. As is well known, over the past 11 years, exchanges and cooperation between China and Japan in various fields have been unprecedentedly expanded and strengthened. The social demand for Japanese talent has been continuously increasing, and the standards for such talent have also changed. In this context, experts from the Ministry of Education's College Japanese Examination Question Bank have reexamined the rationality of the "College Japanese Level 4 Examination Syllabus" and began to explore the direction of reform. In December 2003, the "College Japanese Level 4 Examination Syllabus" was newly promulgated, focusing on assessing students' comprehensive application of Japanese. To help a wide range of examinees and the public prepare for the exam, we have thoroughly studied the new syllabus promulgated by the State Education Commission in 2003 while referring to the sample questions for the 2004 College Japanese Level 4 Examination. We have organized experts, professors, and frontline teachers with years of experience in college Japanese teaching to compile the College Japanese Comprehensive Series textbooks based on the new syllabus, new teaching materials, and the new examination guidelines. This textbook provides a comprehensive overview of the exam, captures the essence of the Japanese examination, and meticulously targets the critical weaknesses of the exam. It is carefully compiled to accurately address the exam questions, serving the diligent students. This book is divided into three parts: Characters, Vocabulary, and Sample Tests. Through in-depth research on the "College Japanese Teaching Syllabus" (Second Edition), common key vocabulary has been summarized. Detailed explanations are provided for common characters, adjectives, adjectival verbs, verbs, adverbs, loanwords, and polysemous words. The section on polysemous words is a newly added type of question for the College Japanese Level 4 Examination. The content arrangement is the same as the sample questions in the syllabus. After each small section, practice questions and answers are provided to help examinees quickly understand and absorb the content. At the end, sample tests are included. The difficulty level and types are completely consistent with the syllabus requirements. Through studying this book, examinees can understand the key points to pay attention to in the exam and also master the vocabulary of the College Japanese Level 4 Examination well. Due to the haste in writing, there are bound to be errors in this book. We sincerely welcome criticism and corrections from peers and readers.
