Addressing the current situation where the English proficiency of students entering higher vocational and specialized education varies greatly, this book aims to improve students' English sense and communicative competence through in-depth reading. It emphasizes the cultivation and training of skills in reading, translation, listening, speaking, and writing, with the goal of faster improvement in reading and applying practical writing such as application letters to better meet the needs of frontline foreign-related work and communication.
The book is divided into four volumes. After mastering the second volume, students can smoothly pass the B-level exam, and after mastering the fourth volume, they can pass the A-level exam and even the National College English Test (CET-4). Some students passed CET-4 after completing the third volume. When asked why, they deeply reflected and said, "It's because we thoroughly studied, understood, and mastered the text. If we could memorize it, that would be even better. This is how we achieve our goal of learning English."
The order of explanations in this book is divided into four parts:
① Original Text → ② Translation → ③ Analysis → ④ Explanation.
① Original Text: The sentences of Text A are arranged sentence by sentence, and the difficult sentences and points of Text B are arranged in order from front to back by paragraph.
② Translation: Accurate understanding and Chinese expression of the original text.
③ Analysis: Analysis of the sentence components of the original text.
④ Explanation: Explanation of linguistic points in the original text and supplementary grammar analysis.
