Features: This novel tells a story of a period of history that people are unfamiliar with and do not understand: the story of Chinese soldiers in the Soviet Red Army during the Anti-Japanese War over 60 years ago. The author has created a fictional story, where the protagonist is captured by the Japanese as an Eighth Route Army member, escapes, crosses the border, and joins the Soviet Red Army. Together with the Soviets, they defeat the Japanese Kwantung Army and then fight against the Kuomintang to establish a new China.
Since the three major battles of Leningrad, Stalingrad, and the Defense of Moscow, the war between the Soviet Red Army and the German army has undergone a fundamental change. As a result, on one hand, the Soviet army, on the European front, after each victory, not only meets the combat needs of the front-line troops but also loads surplus war spoils such as tanks, artillery, aircraft, boats, weapons, ammunition, tents, clothing, and food onto trains, which are sent one after another through the hilly areas of Europe, Siberia, and the vast grasslands of Mongolia to the Ussuri River coast in the Far East region known as Imans by the Soviet Union. On the other hand, the Soviet Far East Military District and border forces have gradually strengthened their pre-war reconnaissance tasks in areas occupied by Japanese troops in China, especially in the Tiger Head Fortress.
On August 8, 1945, the Soviet Union declared war on Japan and immediately launched a full-scale offensive against the Japanese Kwantung Army in Northeast China. On August 9, Chairman Mao Zedong issued the "Final Battle Against the Japanese Invaders." On August 10, General Zhu De ordered the Communist-led armed forces to encircle the enemy and demand surrender within a limited time. On August 15, Japanese militarism officially announced its unconditional surrender. On the 19th, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued an instruction, stipulating that the strategic policy of the Party and its armed forces was "develop northward and defend southward," with the main task being to strike and prevent the Kuomintang army from advancing northward, continue to vigorously eliminate Japanese and puppet troops, fully control the provinces of Jehol and Chahar, and develop and control Northeast China.
After Japan's surrender, the Northeast People's Liberation Army, organized by the Communist Party of China, did not arrive in the area along the Heilongjiang and Ussuri Rivers until June 1946. The real story in this book tells how, during this period of political vacuum that lasted nearly a year, Chinese soldiers in the Soviet Red Army, such as Chang Yongnian and their Tiger Lin Independent Brigade under their leadership, fought against the reactionary forces of the Kuomintang with the support and assistance of the Soviet Red Army, maintained social order, stabilized public sentiment, and established the democratic regime of the Party.
