IELTS Exam Skills Training Course (hereinafter referred to as the Course) was written by teachers from the Training Department for Overseas Study of Beijing Language and Culture University, drawing on years of experience in IELTS training and teaching, as well as a detailed analysis of the IELTS exam. Since its publication in 1997, the Course has been praised byIELTS candidates for its rich and comprehensive content, diverse exercise formats, scientific and practical organization, and its ability to accurately address exam key points and the difficulties faced by Chinese candidates. The course is rich in content, covering a wide range of topics based on real-life scenarios in English-speaking countries, arranged in an easy-to-difficult, progressive manner. The book is divided into "Student Book" and "Teacher Book" for self-study purposes.
### I. Student Book
The Student Book is divided into seven units. The first six units provide listening-specific exercises, categorized to simulate IELTS test question types. Unit exercises primarily focus on numerical practice, drawing from dialogues and reports related to numbers in real life. The second unit focuses on listening and writing-specific exercises, training candidates to capture key information and record it through scenarios such as hotel check-ins, phone records, and filling out various forms. The third unit is a (visual and listening) exercise designed to test candidates' comprehension of listening materials. The fourth and fifth units are comprehensive exercises, requiring candidates to summarize and organize information after listening and understanding, responding with concise phrases, completing information, or making multiple-choice and true/false decisions. The sixth unit reinforces candidates' skills in note-taking while listening. The seventh unit includes four sets of mock tests. These four tests are designed based on different IELTS listening question formats provided by the British Council in recent years.
### II. Teacher Book
The Teacher Book includes all written materials for the recordings and answers.
