Features: This book is a supplementary material for the undergraduate teaching of German at higher education institutions, "Contemporary University German." The manual combines new findings from foreign language teaching methods research with successful experiences in China's foreign language teaching over the years, based on the actual situation of Chinese students. It aims to improve students' basic knowledge and skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing by integrating language training into real-life communication scenarios. The goal is to enable students to learn basic language knowledge and skills through communication, apply them in practice, and gradually achieve the communicative competence requirements outlined in the teaching syllabus. The book is divided into two parts. Part one provides specific teaching procedures and methods for the six lessons of the pronunciation course, as well as a general introduction to the difficulties and problems Chinese students face in learning German pronunciation. It explains how Chinese or English pronunciation interferes with the production of certain sounds in each lesson and suggests methods to overcome these interferences and achieve correct pronunciation. Given that the training of pronunciation and intonation cannot be conducted in isolation, students must imitate the pronunciation and intonation of native German speakers. Through repeated practice in simple communication scenarios involving listening, speaking, reading, and writing, students can truly master the rules of German pronunciation and intonation, ensuring correct sounds and natural intonation. Therefore, we strongly emphasize the importance of paying attention to and strengthening imitation exercises using recordings by native German speakers, integrating the training of pronunciation and intonation into all aspects of teaching.
