Features: A highly practical textbook with content that must "keep pace with the times." Since the first edition of GrundstudiumDeutsch was published in 1991, numerous changes have occurred in various fields between China and Germany, making some of the book's content outdated. Meanwhile, the field of German language teaching has continuously explored and accumulated new, valuable experiences. Therefore, it has become urgent to revise the book based on its original foundation. In 2002, the authors officially began the development of the new textbook StudienwegDeutsch. This textbook was selected by the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipal Education Commission in 2002 as part of the "National 15th Five-Year Plan Textbooks for General Higher Education" and the "Beijing Municipal Excellent Textbooks," respectively. This further motivates us to diligently fulfill our work. StudienwegDeutsch consists of four volumes, each accompanied by a workbook, teacher's manual, listening and speaking practice book, and audio cassettes.
Volume 1 is divided into two parts: the Pronunciation Course and the Basic Course. The Pronunciation Course includes 6 lessons, designed to help students master German pronunciation and basic intonation through simple communicative contexts, while also introducing German pronunciation rules. Each lesson contains a certain number of key phoneme and intonation exercises, which teachers can select based on specific circumstances. The Basic Course part consists of 12 lessons, divided into three units. The last lesson of each unit—lessons 4, 8, and 12—focuses on discussions between teachers and students on techniques and methods for learning German. These lessons also serve as review sessions, covering the content of the previous three lessons.
The new textbook emphasizes stimulating students' learning motivation and cultivating their learning abilities, encouraging them to develop a diligent and hardworking attitude, master scientific learning methods, and actively participate in language practice. Since this textbook is specifically designed for Chinese university students, it fully takes into account the difficulties, habits, characteristics, and living environments of Chinese learners. From pronunciation to grammar, and from the linguistic expression of communicative intentions to written argumentation, cultural differences are evident. Approaching a completely new language, a different culture, and a distinct social reality is also a process of comparison and identification with one's own language, culture, and society.
This textbook offers learners not only a new language and new learning pathways but also helps them overcome sociocultural barriers and improve interpersonal communication.
