Features: This series of books was compiled in accordance with the Ministry of Education's instructions to strengthen the education of first-level disciplines. It introduces 54 foreign English original works, covering 26 branches of linguistics and applied linguistics. The first 54 titles of the "Contemporary Collection of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics" have achieved great success since their release in September 2000. The first print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, and a second print run of 6,000 sets began in October. Building on the success of the first 54 titles, FLTRP has now launched the second batch of 58 titles. The second batch of the "Collection" has five key features:
1. It consists of 58 English original works, expanding the covered disciplines from 26 in the first batch to 33 in the second, including newly added fields such as the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and grammaticalization theory, thereby more comprehensively meeting readers' needs;
2. It includes influential works by renowned contemporary linguists such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, enhancing its authoritative nature;
3. It incorporates classic works in linguistics published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press;
4. It still features expert introductions, with a stronger team of experts than the first batch;
5. The book is prefaced by the world-famous linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the renowned Chinese linguist Professor Shen Jiashuan.
