Features: Chinese is the most widely spoken language in the world, with 1.2 billion speakers. Spanish is the language spoken in the most countries in the world, with 21 countries using it as an official language. The number of Spanish speakers is also very large, reaching over 300 million. The important status of these two languages in the world is self-evident. With the increasing exchanges between China and Spanish-speaking countries, more and more Chinese people are learning Spanish, and Spanish-speaking countries are also seeing an increasing number of people learning Chinese. To promote Chinese language teaching in Spanish-speaking countries and to help Spanish speakers learn Chinese, we have compiled this bilingual comparative study of Chinese and Spanish. Of course, this book will also be a useful reference for Spanish language teaching in China, as well as for those who study and use Spanish in China. Many things become clearer through comparison, and language is no exception. Since the 1980s, Chinese scholars have made significant progress in researching Chinese compared to the past, one reason being that research has paid more attention to the unique characteristics of Chinese itself. The study of Chinese and foreign language contrast has contributed to revealing the characteristics of Chinese. Chinese and Spanish are two languages with significant differences, even greater than the differences between Chinese and English. Therefore, the comparative study of Chinese and Spanish may more clearly highlight the features and characteristics of Chinese. Making a contribution to the research of Chinese is also one of the wishes of the authors of this book. Chinese and Spanish Bilingual Comparative Study is the result of a research project approved by the National Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning Leading Group in 1991, funded by the China Social Sciences Foundation, and included in the National Eight-Five Research Plan.
