Publishing Date: 1987-06-01
Features: The content of Arabic grammar is very rich, and its usage rules are relatively complex. It is both rigorous and meticulous, yet flexible and varied, making it a challenging subject to master. Based on preserving the characteristics of Arabic grammar, this book adheres to the principle of practicality and adopts a completely new system and format different from traditional Arabic grammar books. It summarizes, generalizes, elaborates, analyzes complex grammatical phenomena in concise and clear language, accompanied by standardized, vivid, and easy-to-understand example sentences, facilitating understanding, memorization, and mastery.
The book consists of two parts: fundamental Arabic grammar knowledge and commonly used Arabic grammar tools (including conventional phrases and expressions). Most general Arabic grammar books pay little attention to grammar tools. Through long-term teaching practice in Arabic, we have found that neglecting this aspect inevitably affects the effectiveness of Arabic instruction. Therefore, in compiling this practical grammar, we integrate fundamental grammar knowledge with grammar tools, complementing each other to present a complete and systematic concept of Arabic grammar.
The book systematically and comprehensively explains Arabic grammar knowledge and grammar tools, clarifying common, practical, and challenging grammatical phenomena. By providing numerous example sentences from various perspectives, it illustrates their specific usage, thoroughly exploring and researching their structure, meaning, characteristics, and grammatical analysis. Especially for grammar tools with varied collocations, rich content, and difficulty in grasping, we strive to offer reasonable and scientific explanations to aid understanding and usage. Additionally, the book conducts comparative studies on synonymous and near-synonymous Arabic grammar tools and habitual expressions.
Considering the Quran as a model of the Arabic language, some examples from it are appropriately included as sample sentences. Other examples are mainly collected from various Arabic grammar books and literary works. Due to the evolution of language, linguistic phenomena in newspapers and written works often deviate from the rules in grammar books. For practical purposes and to draw attention to these phenomena among language learners and researchers, we have also collected such examples for reference. We believe these will be beneficial to Arabic teaching, research, and translation. Therefore, this book can serve as a textbook for undergraduate students, a reference tool for self-learners with basic Arabic proficiency, and a reference book for postgraduate students as well as educators, researchers, and translators.
