Features: British and American literature are compulsory courses for English majors. The "Study Guide for British and American Literature History and Selected Readings (Volume 2) (2nd Edition)" is a supplementary teaching material developed based on the "British and American Literature History and Selected Readings" (Volumes 1 and 2) and "American Literature History and Selected Readings" (Volumes 1 and 2) edited by Professor Wu Wei-ren and published by FLTRP (Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press). Due to the broad scope of knowledge covered by this textbook and its certain level of difficulty and depth, students and literature enthusiasts widely desire a teaching aid that helps with comprehension while also elevating their understanding. To this end, we have specifically compiled the "Study Guide for (British and American Literature History and Selected Readings) (Volumes 1 and 2)" and the "Study Guide for (American Literature History and Selected Readings) (Volumes 1 and 2)." These two sets of books are organized according to the chapters of the original textbooks, with each chapter consisting of the following four parts:
1. Reference Translation: All introductions to authors and selected readings in the text are translated into Chinese, with the translation striving for accuracy, fluency, and elegance ("faithful, expressive, and elegant"). This helps readers better understand the original text and masterpieces. While absorbing literary influences, readers will also see significant improvements in their translation skills.
2. Glossary: Brief introductions are provided for the authors and works mentioned in the text, and comprehensive, detailed explanations are given for literary terms and proper nouns.
3. Supplementary Exercises: The question types are based on the fundamental formats of British and American literature exams, covering key content that English majors are required to master. Every author in the text is addressed, ensuring a detailed and comprehensive review that helps readers consolidate and expand their knowledge.
