Features: The concept of "Three-Round Review in 90 Days to Pass the Exam" involves a three-month (90-day) cycle, dividing the preparation for the postgraduate entrance exam English into three phases. Candidates are expected to spend approximately 2 hours daily following the plan, starting from basic skills and progressing systematically from simple to complex, from shallow to deep, achieving "step-by-step improvement and steady progress," ultimately feeling "confident for the exam." Specifically, the writing purpose, content arrangement, and features of each round are as follows:
First Round – Refining the Foundation
This round consists of 40 lessons, designed to utilize 40 days of study time to strengthen candidates' fundamental language knowledge. Each day's course is divided into two parts: "Reading Treasure Box" and "Grammar Essentials."
1. In the "Reading Treasure Box," the basic skills of reading are first introduced, followed by targeted exercises. Subsequently, 40 reading comprehension passages are arranged based on the themes and examination features of the postgraduate entrance exam English Part A, following two main lines: "Themes" and "Question Types." The themes are categorized into four major groups: culture and education, social life, business and economy, and science and technology. The question types include five categories: main idea questions, factual detail questions, semantic understanding questions, inference and judgment questions, and attitude/viewpoint questions. The purpose is to enable candidates to master basic reading skills and familiarize themselves with the themes and examination points of Part A, thereby conducting comprehensive training.
2. In the "Core Vocabulary Learning and Memorization" section, core vocabulary is extracted from the daily reading comprehension passages, accompanied by relevant examination point collocations or examples, helping candidates to solidify their understanding of the meaning and usage of core vocabulary during the foundational learning phase.
3. The "Grammar Essentials" section covers all fundamental grammar knowledge, aiming to help candidates thoroughly understand syntactic structures in reading, laying a solid foundation for future comprehension and translation of complex sentences. The examples used in the explanations are all drawn from the reading comprehension passages of the First Round, and all grammar points are comprehensively categorized into four groups, each accompanied by corresponding grammar self-assessment questions.
Second Round – Targeted Practice for Question Types
This round spans 40 lessons, focusing on further categorizing the three major question types in the postgraduate entrance exam English and providing specialized instruction and practice. Each lesson is divided into three parts. Lessons 41-60 focus on "Targeted Practice for Cloze," while lessons 61-80 focus on "Targeted Practice for Cloze (Part B)." The second part is the "Reading and Translation Boot Camp." The third part is writing training, where lessons 41-50 are "Daily Practice for Applied Writing," and lessons 51-80 are "Daily Practice for Short Essay Writing."
1. The "Targeted Practice for Cloze" categorizes the postgraduate entrance exam English cloze into four types: semantic connection, collocational connection, structural connection, and logical connection. It explains the answering techniques for each type, combining specific techniques with targeted exercises to ensure that the skills learned are promptly reinforced and applied.
2. The "Targeted Practice for Cloze (Part B)" is a new question type in the postgraduate entrance exam, belonging to Part B of reading comprehension and also a challenging area for candidates. In this round, we conduct an in-depth analysis and research on this question type in line with the examination syllabus. It is worth mentioning that all reading comprehension passages throughout the book are accompanied by "Structural Analysis," thoroughly dissecting the writing format, genre, theme, topic, and paragraph arrangement. The purpose is to help candidates familiarize themselves with the overall structure of reading comprehension passages and the relationships between individual sentences and paragraphs, enabling them to flexibly respond to new question types.
3. The "Reading and Translation Boot Camp" achieves two goals simultaneously. While continuing targeted practice for reading comprehension question types in the Second Round, long and complex sentences from the passages are selected for English-to-Chinese translation practice. The "Translation Training and Analysis" section not only analyzes the examination points of the selected complex sentences but also, combined with the grammar knowledge from the Second Round, employs a hierarchical analysis method to focus on analyzing the extracted sentences. The purpose is to enable candidates to quickly and accurately understand and translate sentences by starting with their grammatical structures. The specific analysis method is as follows: the subject is in bold black, the predicate is in bold italic, the object and complement are underlined, the attributive is in parentheses, the adverbial is in square brackets, the complement is underlined twice, the appositive is in curly braces, and the antecedent of the attributive clause is underlined with a dot. For example: [Since you are a success], my students perceive that as a reason (not to care much about getting a good education).
4. The "Daily Practice for Applied Writing" section, according to the new syllabus, categorizes applied writing into types such as thank-you letters, apology letters, congratulatory letters, invitation letters, recommendation letters, application (job) letters, inquiry letters, and memos, providing brief introductions and simulated test questions. The "Daily Practice for Short Essay Writing" introduces the "Twelve-Sentence Essay Method," combining postgraduate entrance exam English writing test questions to condense short essay writing into four major types: argumentative essays, explanatory essays, problem-solving essays, and comparative essays. Additionally, each type is "modeled," with a total of eleven templates provided for candidates to reference and apply, aiming to help candidates familiarize themselves with short essay writing question types, master writing techniques, and ensure that the content and word count align perfectly with the test requirements during the exam.
Third Round – Confident for the Exam
This round consists of 10 lessons, designed for candidates to conduct comprehensive simulation and final sprint training within 10 days. It includes 5 sets of tests, comprising 4 mock tests and the 2005 postgraduate entrance exam English test paper. The first 4 sets of tests require candidates to practice one set every two days. The day after completing a set, candidates should not start a new test but instead conduct a detailed analysis and study of the previous test. For questions answered incorrectly, candidates should clarify exactly where they went wrong and why, referring to the relevant content in the book to fully understand the issues, truly achieving the purpose of identifying gaps and filling them. Whether in terms of macro-level guidance on review methods or micro-level training of specific skills, the content of this book has been carefully organized and meticulously designed. It subtly guides candidates to consolidate foundational knowledge, helps them master answering techniques, enables them to deeply understand detailed content, and promotes steady improvement, leading them toward success.
