Features: "Household English" contains a wealth of linguistic materials in family life. When chatting with foreign friends, engaging in lively banter with "English enthusiasts," or having daily conversations with family, you might ask them to play the role of a "domestic helper" to practice "speaking English." After all, creating a language learning environment depends on oneself. This book covers a wide range of topics, including food, clothing, housing, and transportation. To explain things or processes, as long as the words are appropriate, it becomes easy to understand. For example, the "plug" of a vacuum cleaner can be called a "nozzle" or "attachment," but calling it "head" or "tip" is a bit awkward. Worse, you might need to find a long list of adjectives to express a simple "nozzle," which would be time-consuming. Therefore, most of the language used in this book is "colloquial English" or "spoken English." Speaking is different from writing; there's no need to use complex grammatical sentences to showcase talent—just use everyday expressions. The results are excellent—why not give it a try?
