Features: The TOEFL iBT has broken through traditional examination formats and content. Many examinees who have taken our company's TOEFL iBT mock tests report a lack of understanding of the exam. This series focuses on providing comprehensive and detailed insights into the TOEFL iBT for a broad audience of candidates and readers. Through tutorial-style learning materials, readers will become familiar with the requirements of the TOEFL iBT in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The series helps learners effectively improve their English proficiency through a large number of exercises and tutorial lectures. This book is divided into four chapters:
Chapter 1 introduces the TOEFL iBT writing, analyzes the differences between the TOEFL iBT writing and the old TOEFL writing, clarifies the guiding principles behind TOEFL iBT writing questions, outlines the writing skills required of examinees by the TOEFL iBT, explains the scoring criteria for TOEFL iBT writing, and discusses how examinees should approach the TOEFL iBT writing exam.
Chapter 2 focuses on mastering language fundamentals. It guides test-takers in presenting ideas, enriching content, organizing essays, and connecting paragraphs, while also helping them use words and sentences correctly to improve the overall quality of their writing. The editors, guided by effective theories and research in linguistics and language teaching, analyze errors collected from students' writing over the years at the levels of vocabulary, grammar, and cohesion to identify the root causes of these mistakes.
Chapter 3 is practical exercises.
Chapter 4 is mock tests, including fourteen TOEFL iBT writing mock tests for candidates to practice. An analysis and annotations of these mock tests are provided at the end of the book for candidates to reference during their preparation.
