Features: A single photograph, a piece of old story. Old Photos is leaving behind many precious historical fragments for humanity, reflecting the survival and development of humans over the past hundred years. Looking back at these details holds special significance! The birth of photography provided people with a vivid and stable reference for understanding history. Compared to written records, photographs are often more direct and certain. With the camera's shutter pressed, a scene of history is thus frozen in time. History truly owes gratitude to this "freezing." It has largely preserved the original essence of history, making it less susceptible to being dressed up or altered at will. Of course, things are not entirely absolute. There have indeed been cases in the past where people used darkroom techniques to perform head-swapping tricks on photographs or erase certain elements, but these belong to exceptions, and their effects are often poor, inevitably revealing flaws or backfiring, leaving behind laughter. The ability of photographs to retain more of the truth of history relies entirely on their irreplaceable and unalterable independent voice. Unfortunately, when narrating history, the independent voice of photographs is often not given the respect it deserves. Even in books that extensively use photographs, they are merely used as supporting evidence for historical conclusions or illustrations for certain historical concepts. Old Photos attempts to change this by placing photographs at the center of observation, allowing the photographs themselves to speak. Sometimes, the messages and meanings contained in photographs far exceed what can be covered by simple historical conclusions. History can only become vivid and lively by acknowledging and listening to the voice of photographs. Old Photos (Volume 4) includes 79 old photographs.
