Features: The discovery of the Xianggang Nanyue King's Tomb is akin to opening a treasure trove of historical and cultural heritage in the Lingnan region. In the 1970s, a shipbuilding site from the era of the unification of the Lingnan region under the Qin Dynasty was found in the old city area of Guangzhou on Zhongshan Fourth Road. In the 1980s, the Nanyue King's Tomb was discovered, and in the 1990s, the site of the Nanyue Kingdom's palace and government offices was unearthed. These three major discoveries are hailed as the "Three Great Archaeological Finds of Qin and Han Guangzhou." Because these three sites were all found during construction projects and were subsequently protected on-site, they are regarded as exemplary cases of implementing excavation, preservation, reasonable utilization, and enhanced management in cultural relic and archaeological work. We have selected typical excavation cases, striving to include as much information as possible about the entire process of a specific excavation, as well as data that help understand the ancient context of the site, such as historical background and geographical environment.
