This gave rise to the name "Blue Stocking Society," and the term "Blue Stocking" also became a nickname or playful moniker for female intellectuals. This series systematically introduces foreign female writers and their literary achievements, showcasing the overall lineup of women writers of this century. Its greatest feature is that all the authors are women: female writers writing for female readers, translated into Chinese by female translators, and compiled by female scholars, making it a purely female literary series. It is divided into ten volumes: American, British, Canadian, German, French, Japanese, Russian, Eastern European, Latin American and Southern European, and Arabic female literary works. Each volume contains approximately 300,000 words, with a total of over 3 million words. "Blue Stocking" is a nickname for the female intellectuals who established literary salons in the 18th century. Naming this series after them embodies the spirit of female writers' "self-reliance, self-respect, and self-strengthening." In the 1920s, avant-garde literature rose to prominence. Among female writers, although no globally renowned masterpieces emerged, they were inevitably influenced and inspired. After World War II, the world underwent tremendous changes, as did middle-class women. In literature, new realism and surrealism emerged, and the number of female writers reached unprecedented levels. Especially after the 1960s, a diverse and vibrant scene emerged. This book is a selection of Latin American and Southern European female literary works, with all the authors being renowned female writers from Latin America and Southern Europe.
