Floating World Copy -- Selected Essays and Musings from the Decaying Wood

Author: Sun Yuemu

Features: Originally called "zawen" (satirical essays), later termed "suiwen" (random essays), and now "shipei" (current affairs commentary); some call it literature, others news, or even "literary news." Mr. Lu Xun called it "the sensitive nerves and offensive/defensive limbs of society." Mr. Li Dazhao called for "shouldering justice with a strong shoulder and writing with a skillful hand." While I dare not claim to be as skillful as Mr. Lu Xun, my sense of justice is something I never forget. The selected works here are some of my essays, random essays, and current affairs commentaries published in the past five years. Five years have passed without a book. Looking back suddenly, a sense of vicissitudes fills my heart. Since the mid-1980s of the last century, I have fallen in love with essays and random essays, and I have never stopped writing for all these years! - Now, I have added "current affairs commentary." The spirit, vitality, and essence (pervade) these commentaries are not they the very continuation and development of the "Lu Xun style"? "Literary works are eternal, but success and failure are known only to the author." I dare not claim anything else, but there is one thing I never forget: I will never write what goes against my conscience, and I will never speak or write falsehoods or empty words. My insights may be shallow or deep, and my writings may be refined or popular, but "what is valued is courage, what is sought is the soul," and what is cherished is truth, which is my motto. To sum up, the "current essays" I write are to preserve a piece of truth for history. Although, in this vast world, it may be just a fragment. Therefore, I name it: "Fleeting World Copy."
