Features: Are you going to learn Servlet and JSP for the new version (J2EE 1.4)? This book will give you a boost. You will master Servlet and JSP well and smoothly pass the Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD) exam. Maybe you don’t care about the exam, but you need to use Servlet and JSP in your next project. You’re facing a tight deadline, and time is running out. At this point, it’s definitely not enough to pick up a book and become an expert by carefully studying it, and a comprehensive book like this might even make you feel bored. No problem. HeadFirstServletsJSP applies the new learning theory and delivers knowledge directly to your brain. You’ll interact with Servlet and JSP in unusual ways, allowing you to learn deeper and faster, and more importantly, you’ll truly be able to apply what you’ve learned. You can see why so many reviewers say this book makes them “unable to put it down.” We won’t let you just read this book while dozing off just to pass the exam, nor do we want you to forget everything the next day. You’ll learn how to write Servlet and JSP, which aspects of the container are highly recommended, how to use the JSP Expression Language, what not to write in JSP, how to write deployment descriptor files, how to develop secure applications, and how to use some server-side design patterns. You won’t just pass the exam—you’ll truly master these skills and apply them effectively. This new exam is difficult. Much harder than the previous version of SCWCD. We know this well because we wrote it. We just want to make it more fun and help you pass the exam with greater ease.
