Features: For a long time, Tibet has been a mysterious and sought-after destination for travelers and an adventurous paradise in the hearts of many. In people's minds, this snow-covered region on the highest plateau of the Earth is not only a fascinating virgin land but also the last bastion rich in romance and mystery in the world. Countless fair-skinned Western explorers, missionaries, and anthropologists have been drawn to Tibet's unique geographical environment and ancient culture, competing to enter this mysterious land. In their fleeting and superficial accounts, Tibet has become a place that the world finds hard to understand, only sparking various fantastical speculations and whimsical imaginations. As a result, for many years, "Mysterious Tibet" has almost become the common term for Tibet. To this day, we know little about Tibet's traditional customs and modern life. The distinctive Tibetan customs, folk culture, value systems, religious beliefs, and cultural arts still leave many unknown gaps. Adding to the colorful natural landscapes, Tibet still holds an irresistible allure of mystery for the world. Precisely for this reason, since Tibet opened up to the outside world, a continuous stream of overseas tourists has into Tibet, forming groups to climb the roof of the world, even in the freezing winter when temperatures drop to -10°C, people do not hesitate to overcome the challenges of high altitude and lack of oxygen. It is precisely these countless tourists who are eager to understand Tibet but know little about it that inspire us to introduce a real Tibet to the world. It is heartening that in recent years, with the development of Tibetan studies both domestically and internationally, some Han writers and scholars who have lived in Tibet for a long time and have built deep friendships with the Tibetan people have written some refreshing works, painting a clear and accessible Tibet for us. One of the authors, Mr. Liao Dongfan, once lived in the countryside of Tibet, eating Tsampa, drinking butter tea, and chatting with the local farmers and herdsmen in Tibetan. A large part of this book is based on his observations and experiences accumulated over more than two decades of life and work in Tibet. The Tibet he depicts is authentic and combines depth of human culture with current information, differing from the superficial accounts of those who pass through hastily. Another author, Ms. Lu Xiaofei, also has years of experience in Tibet, and her youth and life emotions are closely tied to the people and land along the Yarlung Tsangpo River. Her works are like snowmelt from high mountains, pure, flowing smoothly, and deeply moving. Today, the highly developed global transportation and information networks are rapidly shortening the distances between countries and ethnic groups. The rise of industrialization, urbanization, commercialization, and marketization is impacting the ancient traditional cultures of various ethnic groups and accelerating their transformation. However, the Tibetan Plateau is indeed very high, and the journey is also very far. Natural barriers and have made the world little aware of Tibet's past and present. Cultural differences, historical gaps, and racial prejudices have led to certain misunderstandings and misinterpretations of Tibet. This book aims to build a bridge for those who have never had the chance to visit Tibet and those who long to see it, helping them to re-recognize and understand Tibet from various perspectives and angles.
