Features: The Continuation of the Yijian Zhi (Four Volumes), written by Jin Yuanhaowen. Yuanhaowen (1190–1257), styled Yuzhi, styled Yishan, was a native of Xiurong, Taiyuan (now Xian County, Shanxi). His ancestors traced back to the Tuoba clan of the Northern Wei Dynasty. The Continuation of the Yijian Zhi was composed by the author in his later years as a follow-up to Song Hongmai's Yijian Zhi. Although it lacks the extensive length of Yijian Zhi, its content is relatively rich. The New News from Lakes and Seas: A Continuation of the Yijian Zhi is a collection of supernatural tales that emerged after Song Hongmai's Yijian Zhi and Jin Yuanhaowen's The Continuation of the Yijian Zhi. Divided into two volumes and seventeen categories, it contains over 500 entries. The entry titled The Great Prosperity of the Yuan Dynasty records the deeds of Genghis Khan, ?gedei Khan, and Kublai Khan, clearly a work by a Yuan Dynasty author. The rest are mostly stories from the Song Dynasty, with occasional tales from the Yuan Dynasty and earlier periods. The content of this book is quite complex, with most entries being supernatural tales, but a small number of entries document historical anecdotes and lost records, seemingly compiled from previous works.
