Features: This book is one of the volumes in the journey through the mysterious culture of Yunnan, introducing the historical relics of the ancient city of Kunming from various perspectives. The book is rich in content, illustrated with images and text, and offers strong interest and readability, allowing readers to gain a comprehensive understanding and recognition of the ancient city of Kunming. According to historical records and chronicles from various dynasties, the area of present-day Kunming (excluding the modern counties and cities) has had city names such as Guchang, Julan, Jianling, Kunzhou (prefecture seat in Yining), Tuodong, Shanchan, Zhongqing (Yaji), Yuniu, and Yunnan (prefecture seat in Kunming), spanning over 2,000 years. Some of these cities' construction periods and geographical locations vary among different accounts. In the 15th year of the Hongwu era (1382), after the Ming army pacified Yunnan, the Yuan Dynasty's Zhongqing Circuit was changed to the Yunnan Prefecture, and a brick wall over 9 li in circumference was built around it, laying the foundation for the outline of the Kunming city. From then on, later generations were able to trace its development with solid evidence. As for the ancient cities that appeared before, especially those before the Dali Kingdom in the Song Dynasty, they have long vanished without a trace due to the relentless erosion of time.
