Jia Zhifang, Niu Han, and other so-called "Hu Feng Faction" members have endured over two decades of setbacks, from their vindication in the 1980s to the present day, remaining sharp and unyielding even in their eighties. Among them, Mr. He Manzi, at the age of 84, has been active in the realm of essays, growing stronger with each battle, releasing a new collection of essays every year. He claims that with his youth wasted, he can no longer pursue academic studies and can only write short essays at will. However, his early academic research undoubtedly provided a solid intellectual foundation for these short pieces. Fujian People's Publishing House has compiled and published a selection of Mr. He Manzi's academic papers outside of his monographs, assembling them into three volumes: Discussions on Classical Chinese Literature, Essays on Aesthetics and Literature, and Miscellaneous Works on History, Literature, and Folklore. These publications not only help us deepen our knowledge in these areas but also make it easier for us to explore the intellectual journey and spiritual history of the older generation of scholars.
