Publishing Date: 1999-07-01
Features: The Selected Works of Mao Zedong includes 803 documents of Mao Zedong, serving as a comprehensive multi-volume collection of Mao Zedong's works that reflects the scientific system of Mao Zedong Thought, following the first to fourth volumes of the Selected Works of Mao Zedong. It fills the gap left by the absence of a selected works collection for Mao Zedong during the socialist period. The compilation of the Works lasted eight years and was published in three installments. The Works only selects documents with correct or basically correct content. For manuscripts and previously published speeches or records of conversations, the editorial work primarily involves verifying historical facts and correcting text and punctuation. For speeches or records of conversations that have not been previously published, significant effort is required for technical textual editing. The annotations in the Works primarily involve explanations of people, events, quotations, documents, etc. They also introduce Mao Zedong's ideological viewpoints related to the main text through annotations or correct inaccuracies. We extensively searched for materials, consulted experts, and conducted rigorous research to strive for complete annotations.
