The Lujiahe remains can be divided into seven phases and eight segments: the Chengbei Culture dating back 8,000 years; the Tianzianzi type culture, contemporary with the Erlitou Culture of the Central Plains; the Lujiahe Culture of the Shang Dynasty; the Zhou Liangyuqiao type culture from the late Yinxu period to the early Spring and Autumn period; the Chu Culture of the Warring States period; remains from the early Western Han Dynasty; remains from the Eastern Han Dynasty; and remains from the Six Dynasties to the Song and Ming dynasties. Among these, the Shang Dynasty Lujiahe Culture remains are the most abundant, making Lujiahe the namesake of the Lujiahe Culture.
