Concise General Ethnology

Author: Shi Zhengyi
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 1996-10-01
Features: Since the publication of General Ethnology, the book has received praise from academic circles both domestically and internationally and has won a first-class award at the national ministry-level. However, due to the limited print run, it has long been out of stock. Additionally, the book's substantial length makes it difficult to republish. In the past two years, many people have requested copies, not only from the author's graduate students who need teaching materials but also from several sister institutions that have expressed hope in using this book as a textbook. After careful consideration to meet these needs, the decision was made to compile A Concise General Ethnology. All chapters included in this book, except for the last two, are original essays written by the author. These essays have mostly been published in the "General Ethnology" column of the Ethnic Economy magazine since 1991. During the compilation, minor edits were made in a few places, but the essays are largely kept in their original form. Since the column was originally organized to discuss "General Ethnology" in a series of essays, compiling them together naturally aligns with the logical system of General Ethnology, making this book its "Concise Edition."
