The initial print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, requiring a second print run of 6,000 sets in October. Publishing such a large-scale collection of linguistic works within such a short period is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its release, numerous institutions and individuals have rushed to order it. Graduate and undergraduate students regard the Collection as a valuable guide, while teachers of all ages consider it a source of knowledge renewal. Practice has proven that the Collection, launched by FLTRP, has been widely praised by the domestic linguistic and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove for advancing linguistic teaching, research, foreign language teaching, and research in China. Building on the success of the first 54 titles, FLTRP now presents the second installment of the Collection with 58 new titles. The second installment features five key characteristics:
1. Comprising 58 original English-language works, it covers 33 disciplines, an increase from the first installment's 26, including newly added fields such as the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and grammaticalization theory, thereby more comprehensively meeting readers' needs;
2. It includes influential works by renowned linguistic masters such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority;
3. It incorporates classic linguistic works published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press;
4. It continues to feature expert introductions, with an even stronger team of experts than the first installment;
5. The Collection is prefaced by the world-renowned linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the distinguished Chinese linguist Professor Jiaxuan Shen.
This Collection is a large-scale, open-ended series that will actively promote the development of linguistic teaching and research in China, as well as foreign language teaching and research. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce the latest and most influential linguistic and applied linguistic works to readers worldwide.
