Bodhi and Life Introduction: The Mahaprajnaparamita Sutra is a Mahayana scripture comprising 600 volumes and 200,000 stanzas. "Bodhi" is a Sanskrit term translated into Chinese as "wisdom," differing from worldly intellect and discrimination, referring instead to "emptiness wisdom," specifically "personality emptiness wisdom" and "phenomenal emptiness wisdom." "Personality emptiness" means not clinging to what is subjectively perceived, while "phenomenal emptiness" means clearly understanding all objective phenomena that are objectively encountered without attachment. The spirit of Bodhi is serene and tranquil, the spirit of Bodhi is peaceful and gentle, the spirit of Bodhi is compassionate and joyful, and the spirit of Bodhi is great wisdom without self. Venerable Wei advocates that entering the Buddhist path and walking the radiant road requires inheriting the spirit of Bodhi and promoting it. In doing so, one must integrate the spirit of Bodhi with practical life and daily existence, filling our lives and the lives of others with the wisdom of Bodhi. On February 22, 2000, after the preliminary construction of the Wenshu Pavilion at Wenshu Monastery in Chengdu was completed, a Bodhi Dharma Assembly was held. Venerable Wei was invited to lecture on the Mahaprajnaparamita Sutra. Due to time constraints, he delivered the lecture in outline form, yet he clearly explained the essence of the Mahaprajnaparamita Sutra and discussed how to implement the spirit of Bodhi in real life. After reading it, one intuitively feels that it is both profound and accessible. The wisdom of Bodhi is like a bright guiding lamp, illuminating the path of our lives.
