Features: This textbook for postgraduate English majors aims to organically integrate translation theory, practice, and criticism. Guided by Sino-Western translation theories and supported by English-Chinese contrastive studies, it provides multi-layered perspectives and dimensions for translation criticism based on translation practice, bridging the gap between theory and practice and fostering complementary growth between translation practice and critical skills. Existing textbooks generally fall into three categories due to their different focuses: translation theory, translation theory and practice, and translation criticism. The distinctive feature of this teaching material is its application of theory, involving criticism based on translation practice. The book is divided into five chapters:
Chapter 1: Translation Theory
Chapter 2: Translation Methodology
Chapter 3: Translation Criticism
Chapter 4: English-Chinese Translation Practice and Criticism
Chapter 5: Chinese-English Translation Practice and Criticism
The first three chapters are theoretical, presented in the form of "Reflection Questions" and "Guides," with the latter providing key references and research content. The last two chapters focus on practice and criticism, tailored to the characteristics of English-Chinese and Chinese-English translation, offering one or more translations for comparison and analysis.
