Theory of Artistic Interaction

Author: Huang Mingfen

Publish Date: 1999-04-01
Features: This book is one of the "20th Century Art Library. Research Edition." It starts from the perspective of genesis, providing substantial elaborations on the occurrence, characteristics, motivations, and functions of artistic interaction. It incorporates findings from biogenesis, psychology, and need theory, breaking away from purely impressionistic approaches to art theory and making a new attempt to explore art theory from a more rational or quantitative standpoint. Artistic interaction itself has three types: First, interaction between creators and appreciators as specific social roles; second, interaction between the creative subject and the creative object, and between the appreciative subject and the appreciative object; third, interaction among individuals who are either creative objects or appreciative objects. This book focuses on the second type of interaction, treating the first type as the background and the third type as a derivative.
