Is circumcision necessary?

Patient's question:

The foreskin is a bit long, but it doesn't affect sexual life. Do I need treatment?

Doctor's answer:

These concerns are unnecessary. Circumcision is a minor surgical procedure, usually performed in a small operating room at an outpatient clinic, and patients can go home immediately afterward without needing hospitalization. Circumcision is typically performed under local anesthesia. Before the incision, the anesthetic is injected into the corpora cavernosa on both sides of the penis and around the nerves on the back of the penis. This way, there is minimal pain during the surgery. Moreover, after the anesthetic wears off, it does not cause any harmful effects on the penis or its nerves, nor does it affect future sexual function.
