How should hydrocele in the left spermatic cord be treated?

Patient's question:

After a hospital ultrasound examination, the report stated:
Findings: A hypoechoic cord-like dark area was detected in the left inguinal region, measuring approximately 4619mm, with clear boundaries. It is not with the abdominal cavity.
Suggestion: Left spermatic cord hydrocele.
Question: Can this be confirmed as a spermatic cord hydrocele? If so, what is the treatment approach? Please reply. Thank you!

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Varicocele is divided into three degrees. In mild cases, dilated veins cannot be felt locally, only discomfort is felt. In moderate cases, dilated veins can be felt when standing, but they are not visible externally. In severe cases, dilated veins can be seen in the scrotum appearing like worms or clusters.
The treatment of varicocele: Mild cases can be managed conservatively, such as through rest, wearing tight underwear, reducing strenuous exercise, and appropriately using blood-activating medications. However, moderate to severe cases, or those accompanied by infertility or abnormal semen, require surgery. This is because varicocele obstructs blood, leading to impaired blood circulation in the testicles, which disrupts their normal sperm production and secretion functions. Over time, this can cause testicular atrophy and loss of all functions.
Develop good living habits, pay attention to personal hygiene, maintain a positive mental state, and seek timely treatment to avoid missing the optimal window for treatment. Wishing you good health.
