Is it normal for sperm to be yellow and jelly-like?

Patient's question:

Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: My semen is a mixture of light yellow and transparent colors, and half of it is not liquid, like fruit jelly, a bit sticky! Is this normal???

Doctor's answer:

Ejaculate turning yellow and becoming jelly-like has two causes: Generally, physiological yellowish semen is only temporary and disappears quickly, often due to prolonged abstinence. The semen typically appears light yellow, but most cases of yellow semen are caused by pathological reasons.
First, normal semen should be translucent, like egg white, slightly cloudy with a hint of yellow. If abstinence is prolonged, the color may turn slightly yellow due to changes in its physical and chemical properties. Once the frequency of ejaculation returns to normal, the yellowish semen should significantly improve, and there's no need to worry. However, if the condition doesn't improve, it may be caused by a disease.
Apart from the case of prolonged lack of sexual activity, yellow semen is likely caused by inflammation in other situations.
