Features: Village self-governance is a great initiative of hundreds of millions of farmers under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, and also an organized normative system for the grassroots democracy, management system, social relationships, and social activities of rural areas in contemporary China, guided by the principles and spirit of the Constitution. Based on the Constitution and the "Organizational Law of the Village Committee," this paper studies the nature, characteristics, basic principles, autonomous rights, policy and legal foundations, institutional guarantees, organizational structure, and operational mechanisms of village self-governance, and provides policy recommendations for its development and improvement. Chapter 1 discusses the basic theories of village self-governance. After an overview of autonomy, it provides a theoretical analysis of the concept of village self-governance, arguing that it is a concept encompassing ideological, institutional, governance models, and activity methods. Chapter 2 elaborates on the right of village self-governance and its realization. Chapter 3 argues for the policy and legal foundations and institutional guarantees of village self-governance. Chapter 4 explores the organizational structure and operational mechanisms of village self-governance. Chapter 5 conducts a comparative study on the insights from village-level organization development in foreign countries for China's village self-governance. Chapter 6 discusses the development and improvement of village self-governance.
