Features: This issue of the symposium collection includes several review articles and research papers, systematically introducing the current status and latest achievements in fields such as ancient DNA, regional archaeology, environmental archaeology, metallurgical archaeology, remote sensing archaeology, as well as cultural heritage preservation and restoration, both internationally and domestically. From different perspectives, it showcases the vigorous development of scientific archaeology in China. This issue of the symposium collection also has several distinctive features: First, the majority of the authors are young, reflecting the continuity of China's scientific archaeology efforts; second, the number of archaeologists has increased, indicating growing interest in scientific archaeology among archaeologists; third, the preservation of cultural heritage at archaeological sites has received significant attention. It is believed that the application of scientific archaeology and cultural heritage preservation during archaeological excavations will soon become a focal point. Undoubtedly, if scientific archaeology cannot be integrated with archaeological excavations, it cannot truly become a discipline.
