Features: In the second line of the table of contents, "Excerpts from Good Room Chronicle," the asterisk represents a "gate," with "sound" inside. Sun Li, who has been engaged in writing since the age of twenty, not only gives his novels a unique feel but also possesses a profound understanding and insight into literary works and literary creation. This book allows readers to perceive Sun Li's understanding of novels through his novels. This book is the eighth volume of Sun Li Complete Works published by People's Literature Publishing House, including two of Sun Li's collected works: The Rustic Lane and The Realm of Non-Action. Although Sun Li said he chose the names of the collected works arbitrarily, his literary critiques are always targeted, profound, and incisive. The Rustic Lane is a collection of articles written by Sun Li from March 1984 to May 1986. The content has a weakened romanticism and an enhanced theoretical thinking. It includes excerpts, casual talks, and reflections on reading. However, the focus remains on the understanding of novels, such as the section "Random Talks on Novels," which connects novels with issues like pornography, moral lessons, martial arts, and criticism, proposing that the quality of novels should be improved and that writers should focus on creative effort and artistic cultivation. These are all of great practical significance. The Realm of Non-Action includes several major themes: Geng Tang Essays, Yun Zhai Novels, Yun Zhai Casual Talks, Old Village News, Geng Tang Reading Notes, Yun Zhai Short Letters, etc. Although the style of the content has changed somewhat, it still reflects the ideal elements of "truth, goodness, and beauty" that Sun Li advocated in his works.
