To relive the history of the Long March and promote its spirit, Yunnan People's Publishing House has recently launched the book "Remembrance of the Jinsha River — A Chronicle of the Red Army's Long March Through Yunnan." The book is divided into two parts. The first part consists of articles by Red Army commanders recalling their experiences during the Long March through Yunnan. The second part includes five appendices, featuring reports by foreign journalists Edgar Snow and Harrison Salisbury on the Red Army's passage through Yunnan, recollections from local residents who lived through the Red Army's time in the areas they traversed, and records from Nationalist generals who besieged the Red Army in Yunnan at the time. The book's distinctive feature is its use of a factual writing style to vividly recreate the history of the Long March. Accounts from commanders of both sides, operational directives, and telegrams, as well as on-the-ground reports by foreign journalists, allow readers to fully experience the war from a firsthand perspective, appreciating its grandeur and details while feeling the urgency and realism of the conflict. The more than 60 images interspersed throughout the book not only hold significant historical value but also help readers gain a more vivid understanding of history. This book, presented in a richly illustrated format, recreates the historical fact of the Red Army's Long March through Yunnan, and the five related appendices enrich and supplement the historical records of this great endeavor from different perspectives.
