Features: In the era of globalization, competition among enterprises has shifted from hardware competition to software competition, from technology and product competition to competition in corporate philosophy and ethics. In other words, corporate competition has moved from a competition of hard power to a competition of soft power. We should take the trend of multinational corporations strengthening corporate responsibility as a turning point to enhance the competitiveness of Chinese enterprises. Not only should we not resist the trend of multinational corporations strengthening corporate responsibility, but we should instead leverage this trend to strengthen the corporate responsibility of Chinese enterprises and enhance their soft competitiveness.
The Center for Multinational Corporations Research of the Ministry of Commerce Research Institute edited and published Soft Competitiveness—Corporate Responsibility Concepts of Multinational Corporations to promote the strengthening of the corporate responsibility concept. The author systematically summarizes the sustainable development concepts of multinational corporations from a theoretical perspective, integrating various popular concepts in society such as "corporate social responsibility," "sustainable development," and "corporate citizenship." It comprehensively reveals the different aspects of "corporate responsibility." At the same time, the book also includes 15 cases of multinational corporations, describing their understanding and practice of the "corporate responsibility" concept, including many thought-provoking examples.
The purpose of compiling this book is primarily to introduce readers to the movement to strengthen corporate responsibility that has emerged globally in recent years, to understand how multinational corporations enhance their soft competitiveness, and to learn from their experiences to strengthen the corporate responsibility concept and accelerate the improvement of Chinese enterprises' soft competitiveness. While introducing the practices of multinational corporations in strengthening corporate responsibility, we also criticize some negative tendencies of multinational corporations in weakening corporate responsibility in China. We hope that multinational corporations in China will become role models for corporate responsibility, contributing to the growth of Chinese enterprises and the sustainable development of the Chinese economy.
