Features: This issue is organized entirely around the theme of regional economic convergence. The core issue of regional economics is the problem of growth. At different stages of regional economic development, the mode of regional economic growth varies. In the initial stage, divergence characteristics tend to form, but once regional economic growth reaches a certain stage, it needs to develop convergence characteristics. Mainstream economic growth theories lack a spatial dimension, making it difficult to explain the agglomeration and diffusion of production factors in space, and thus they struggle to explain regional convergence and divergence phenomena. Only under the spatial thinking characteristics of regional economics can this convergence and divergence be effectively explained. This issue mainly includes 12 articles, which study the issues of convergence and divergence from three levels. Theoretically, it argues for the possibility of regional economic convergence at the macro level and reveals the general mechanisms of regional economic convergence. Practically, it first examines and studies the trends of regional economic convergence and divergence at the meso level, and then examines the institutional factors influencing regional economic development at the micro level.
