Features: Good Reading Anthology is a newly launched collection of outstanding contemporary essays by Huayi Publishing House. This volume includes 10 excellent reportage works by 10 authors, including Wang Chongjia, Qu Lan, Cheng Wenchao, Zhang Yawen, and others. The themes cover current China's highly-focused issues such as educational reform, cybercrime, online dating, social discrimination against hepatitis B carriers, and the phenomenon of "second wives' villages" in Shenzhen, providing a shortcut to understanding China's information society in the era of a market economy. Among them, the documentary writings of Cheng Wenchao, who passed away in 2004, describe his 10 years of struggle against cancer with a particularly authentic and moving narrative that inspires readers. From hundreds of thousands of articles published annually in thousands of newspapers and magazines nationwide, selecting dozens or hundreds of outstanding pieces is indeed a risky and challenging task. Fortunately, we are compiling a collection of enjoyable reading, where the criterion for selection is simply whether the piece is engaging or not. In other words, our compilation is not intended to create a literary ranking, nor to select so-called classics or premium works, nor to conduct literary evaluations or awards. We sincerely approach this with the perspective of an ordinary reader, maintaining a calm and ordinary mindset, starting from the public's reading interests, and striving to discover and collect those works that can attract readers, spark interest, and transform reading into a joy and an enjoyment. Through this spiritual and cultural consumption, we hope to rekindle the once-harshened and numb hearts of those who have been tempered by the market economy and social life, making them once again tender and vibrant, and rehydrate the dry eyes that have long been parched. Good articles may not necessarily be premium works, but premium works must be engaging and deeply loved by the public. Dear readers, if you feel your hearts warm up or are touched and inspired while reading this collection, then as compilers, our original intention has been fully realized.
