Features: The "Global City Competitiveness Report" is primarily the research outcome of the members of the Global City Competitiveness Project Group. The Global City Competitiveness Project Group was established in Ottawa, Canada, in 2005, and the urban competitiveness research project is composed of scholars and researchers from Europe, North America, and Asia. The purpose of the project group's establishment is: to analyze the competitiveness factors of world city regions; to promote communication among urban competitiveness researchers and scholars; to strengthen the connection between researchers and city governments and leaders; to promote effective economic strategic planning in cities worldwide; to help city leaders further enhance the competitiveness of their cities, thereby improving the economic future of city residents; to increase the interest of researchers whose research fields focus on industrialized economies and economic development. The nine papers in the main part of this report can generally be divided into three categories: , representing the characteristics of successful cities. Second, four papers examine the process of restructuring the economy of cities or urban regions. Third, two papers present quantitative methods for evaluating urban competitiveness.
