The topic directly originates from the lectures. The birth of this "Lecture Series on Humanities" stems from a grand humanities academic lecture event—"Southeast University Centennial Celebration Humanities Grand Lecture Hall"—at the beginning of the 21st century, becoming a precious witness in the history of Chinese academia. Each lecture embodies the insights accumulated over years or even a lifetime of research by the scholars. They often integrate comprehensive knowledge and improvise creatively after thorough preparation, using rich materials to explain specialized and profound academic issues in an accessible manner, making the reading experience engaging and fascinating. Truly, it is a treasure trove of essence and diversity.
To broaden the impact of this humanities spectacle and these cultural resources rich in profound insights and sharp thinking, enabling more readers to engage in reflection, exploration, and exchange, the organizers established an editorial committee to compile this "Lecture Series on Humanities." When planning this series, emphasis was placed on its humanities content, and the selected lectures were strictly limited to the fields of literature, history, philosophy, and art. The lectures primarily feature the "Southeast University Centennial Celebration Humanities Grand Lecture Hall," supplemented by some outstanding humanities lectures from Peking University, Tsinghua University, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It can be said that this "Lecture Series on Humanities" embodies the academic essence of China's outstanding humanities scholars and contains their heartfelt hopes for the younger generation of scholars.
