Features: The Yuzhang Series is a large-scale series of books in Jiangxi local culture, boasting the most extensive volume and richest content. Yuzhang is a historical alias for Jiangxi. The Yuzhang Series consists of two parts. One was compiled by Tao Fulu (1853–1911, styled Zhiqi, from Xincheng, Jiangxi) in the late Qing Dynasty and published in 1895 (the 21st year of the Guangxu reign). The other was compiled by Hu Sijing (1869–1922, styled Shutang, from Xinchang, Jiangxi) in the late Qing and early Republican era and completed in 1923. The two series contain no overlapping documents. Together, they collect 129 works from the Tang Dynasty to the late Qing Dynasty. Many of these are rare and unique editions, holding significant academic and practical value. The Yuzhang Series now presented to readers was organized under the Jiangxi Provincial Higher Education Institutions Ancient Books Research and Compilation Leading Group. It was edited and compiled by the Yuzhang Series Research and Compilation Committee, led by Professors Wan Ping and Duan Xiaohua of Jiangxi Normal University. The committee merged the two previous Yuzhang Series, rearranged the content, conducted textual criticism and punctuation, and added annotations (preface) and appendices to create this new edition of the Yuzhang Series. This is a major achievement of the Jiangxi Provincial Education Commission, the Jiangxi Provincial Higher Education Institutions Ancient Books Research and Compilation Leading Group, the Jiangxi Normal University Ancient Books Research Institute, and numerous ancient books researchers and scholars in Jiangxi. After over a decade of thorough preparation and diligent effort, this large-scale series represents a significant contribution to the cause of ancient books research and compilation nationwide.
